The recently dead
So are we still alive here? I don't know...but will test.

The 90s called...and want this blog back
So here I am still paying to host this stupid thing long after personal blogging has pretty much become obsolete, mainly due to the Facebookism of the web.
Talk about ego. I must have too much of it...
Mark would point out that this domain has been around and indexed by the bots for so long that it has built in credibility, ensuring search engines would pay it more mind as such.
But since I don't manage to poop out anything here compared to the furtive twitter tweeting tempest of my last 18 months...oh well.
Isn't there a cliche about everything coming back into fashion if you just hold onto it enough? That might be the wrong message to send to the compulsive hoarders out there...
But jesus effing murphy, I feel the urge to write again; to teach and speak. There is something coming...a door has been opened down the hall.

The Next Chapter
It's time to recommit or be committed.
About a year ago now I was diagnosed with what was thought to be thyroid cancer...and lost my job a couple of weeks later. Then Mark developed problems with one of his eyes and by the start of the new year we were both as depressed and anxious as we have ever been.
The clouds lifted in the spring... it wasn't cancer after all. And, after a trip to LA in May, Mark's vision was improved dramatically.
I feel healed now. And it's time to get out there and live my life again.
For a number of reasons I am drawn to New York again...but not for the bed bug infestations. I miss the city acutely sometimes. Toronto is home...but it will never be New York.
I miss Long Beach Island and my folks. It's hard only seeing them a couple of times a year.
So, I am going to look for work that gets me there at least part of the time, starting with putting it down in words here. Let's see what happens...

Floaters and LA
Off we went to Los Angeles last week...to find a solution to Mark's frustration with floaters in his eyes. Thankfully it was a success, and we enjoyed the break from our routine. We even managed to get in trips to Disneyland, the old MGM lot at Sony Pictures and the Queen Mary.
