March Madness

So here we are, March 2010. It's been a relatively bumpy start to the year, and considering the possibility to neatly cap up some review of the first few months of the year; we heartily present the following insights.

First things first, a big shout out to Snookie and Pauly D right off. Who knew that a passing interest in anything titled "Jersey Shore" when surveying the TV channel guide last December might have led a heartfelt compassion such as the one I harbor for that plucky assemblage of guido and quidette personalities.

Cut to this week with Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg trying to get all meta on them on "The View"... hey Andy Warhol! I am coming to join you now.

Secondly.
Words with Friends on the iphone. You crash. Lots. Fix it, or my ongoing amount of ad viewing will not continue. I must be able to play my eight games of "Scrabble" with anyone around the clock...or else.

Third.
The Olympics. Great, it's just about over. Now, please take that song for the Canadian theme out in the back and shoot it like you did with the hound with the twelve pound goiter. Then bury it. I can't hear it again.

Fourth.
How come earthquakes don't ever impact the multi-regional reality series like "Housewives of...?" Is it just for deprived places such as Haiti and Chile? Idea for the Producers...take Nene and a couple of other and drop them on a pile of rubble in Conception for the 2011 season!

Fifth.
Facebook is driving me fucking insane. I feel the need to slap it like the last scene in "Chinatown" every other day...and yet I still must check it, and be notified, like a flying Monkey in the Wizard of Oz.

Attack of the Day Care Cooties

Mark swears that's where we got such a nasty cold from. It's been about a full month now since I got it. Mark seems to be finally over it just a couple of days ago, but I'm still not over it fully.

I probably didn't help my condition by walking around chilly and damp Manhattan for two days a coupe of weeks ago. And just getting over the surgery added another level...

But no complaining allowed here! Things could always be worse.

In fact, some more good news this morning. My Endocrinologist called with the results of my first blood tests since the surgery and the news was all good. Calcium and other values were in acceptable ranges were the results, so it is full steam ahead.

Now improved with less glands!

Isn't it funny how out of fashion blogging has become now that we are in the post twitter world? It temps me to go against the grain and start posting here again if just for the peace and quiet.

The good news is that anything they removed from me didn't show as cancer, which is of course a huge relief. I was grimly resolved to having go through whatever the follow up radiation treatments involved. It was described as "another couple of days" in the hospital, which seemed a little strange. Why would it not be on an out-patient basis?

In any case I don't expect to find out more now. My cell phone rang from a blocked number eight days after the surgery and I let it go to voicemail, thinking it was a wrong number or marketing call.

But it was my endocrinologist instead, whose message I have played a half dozen times or so at this point.

"Your pathology revealed no signs of cancer. Which is good news."

Got that right Doc...
