So what is worse than coming down with a nasty flu/cold for five days? Giving it to half the office and the boss who just happened to be in town… that’s what.
What a day. The roof of my head is flying off.
Mark has written some amazing songs over the last few months and now someone wonderful has interpreted them in a way that makes a chill run down the spine when you hear her sing them. And my job is blossoming in the same way... it all just feels right.
Today I sat in meetings and felt feverish as time went on; just as you would before a cold or flu descended. The more I was engaged the more the symptoms manifested themselves.
Coming home the house was empty and cold. Mark was downtown having dinner with a friend and Luigi was fully ensconced at the "big house" with his Grandmother. Pathetic that I need to turn a bossy and spoiled West Highland Terrier into my surrogate child.... excuse me.
I was shivering and clammy, rubbing my hands together for warmth that didn't come.
And then... after leaving voice mails for the folks that I couldn't speak to today, the fever broke. That slight but somehow full sweat broke out across my entire upper body. The fever was broken. And now another new horizon is in view.

After three days at an industry conference in Las Vegas, what does this boy want? Why an Absolute martini at Emeril's steakhouse at the Venetian of course. And Erin the bartender was good enough to see that an order of crabcakes was the next thing to hit the bar.
But lest you think that I was having one of those "what happens here stays here"sort of experience, let me correct that assumption. Since arriving on Sunday afternoon I didn't leave the property until this morning when I checked out. And last night I was in bed at 8:15. This morning I was up early to write a creative brief for an ad campaign.
Woo. Party animal.

I didn't gamble either. But then again it never really did much for me... and I was here on business, which went very well.
These shots are from my phone, which explains the quality. I still don't feel like schlepping my real camera on business trips. Actually I am learning from our team the down and dirty tricks to flying. Pack really light. Never take anything for granted. Bring something to nibble on. Learn how to negotiate for fares... that kind of thing.
Back to Toronto in a few hours, and bless Las Vegas for having open wireless access in the airport, since even the splendiferous Venetian charged me $9.99 every 24 hours for internet access. But you can't blame them in my case since I didn't drop a dime on the gaming floor.
Here is something to ponder; how exactly do you wash the sheets in a hotel with over 4,000 rooms?

Here are another couple of shots from the headvoice archives, which is now just me and a set of rapidly aging hard drives. When can I go and shop for a multi terabyte storage solution?
Here are some old shots that I am using as rerun material...

Whoosh. That was the holidays flying by… welcome to 2006 cupcakes.
We didn’t go anywhere over the break other than a few family holiday dinners with most of the time was spent relaxing around the house, wondering why the sun hasn’t come out of hiding for seemingly weeks now. Mark spent a lot of time in the studio and I waded through two seasons of the Sopranos, which always makes me homesick.

In any case it is now back to work and it looks to be a year of new faces and new places, which is a good thing, as Martha might say.
