At some point I suppose I could just get a microscope instead of a camera with a macro lens, but we aren't there quite yet.

Poor thing; trapped by a human with a new macro lens. It sounds strange, but he knows what its like to be stalked by paparazzi.

When we were away at the shore the cowardly neighbors cut the vine where it climbed onto their taller wooden fence. And it's all about the visuals for me, so I am less than thrilled by a ten foot section of dead vines flopped over.
But you can't keep a vine down for long.

Most everybody has golden memories of where they grew up; mine are literally golden hued in these shots from yesterday.
The cloudy and steady rain of earlier in the week broke and sunshine warmed the island for us for the past few days. The ocean was warm and clear. The air was sweet and dry. We waded in the tidal pools and walked down the beach, chasing the gulls and sandpipers from their steady pursuit of food, but only briefly.

Corn on the cob and garden tomatoes, grown within miles of the dinner table, were sweet and tender at dinnertime. Crabcakes at Wida's and cheese steaks at Mustache Bills were eaten with relish.
Mark's smile as he was buffeted by the surf, so unlike swimming in the lakes up in Canada, will forever remain in my memories now.
Despite the famous quote, you really can go home again. Especially when your parents are tearing it down to build the house of their dreams.
Your dreams are your own business.

Vacation. Yeah baby.
We are leaving in the morning for a road trip south, down to "da shore."
The salt air, the warm surf... and most likely the last chance to visit the home I grew up in. This is surely more than just a week off.

It's a pretty sad metaphor, but it does work.
I have a new lens... and a new outlook. For the past couple of years I have been hiding out. At least that is what Mark thinks. And he is almost always right about the big stuff.
Yesterday I strolled over to Henry's, the local mega camera store, and bought a macro lens for my new camera. Sure it was expensive, but the pain was mitigated by a gift card from a dear friend.
Not only is this lens good for extreme close up shooting, but also perfect for portraits. So, if you see me coming in the next couple of weeks, be prepared for the paparazzi treatment.
And I am done hiding out too.

The horoscope delivered on the cell phone was stupidly relevant, and the next opportunity was verified.
But then again there are new horizons visible every day...

Wires... and wireless.
Connections... and connectedness.
Power and powerlessness.
