Last Saturday I was determined to grill some pizzas despite the steady cold rain. And we were expecting not one, but two dogs as visitors. So the BBQ was rolled under the carport and fired up. Homemade dough was rolled out and garnished with whatever you liked... and the canines cavorted through all the proceedings.
Here is the lovely and talented Valarie who graced the Broadway stage in "Ragtime" and is now back in Ontario. She is modeling the latest in outer ware, the Labrador Retriever car coat.
Nothing is nicer than good friends who visit with good dogs...

Exactly a week ago today I went to the newly expanded Museum of Modern Art in New York; and my buddy Ken snapped this shot of me in front of Warhol's famous soup can paintings.
It was in the mid 70's when I first visited the MOMA, which was quite a bit smaller and surrounded by a very different mid-town. It wasn't the Disneyland it is now for sure.
The Port Authority bus station and it's neighborhood were really seedy then... and a little scary for a 16 year old from the Jersey Shore. But I remember a few trips at that age; prompted mostly by a wonderful art teacher who opened my eyes to art history and appreciation. We would sit in his darkened classroom and he would show slides and talk; moving slowly but steadily from medieval art through Impressionism, the Bauhaus, Surrealism, Cubism, Dada and more.
As I learned more and let the waves of centuries of painting and sculpture wash over me, it was only natural to visit museums to see it for myself. New York was just a two hour ride away... and I have yet to look back.
It was wonderful to be back in the city that always makes me feel more alive than any other place on earth.

My son has his share of bitches. He is a playa'.
He sure loves the ladies, both humans and his own species. In fact he barks at the neighbor behind us until she comes over to visit him at the back fence. Her husband does not get the same treatment at all.
This is Winnie... and we all love it when she visits.

Here I am again... Mister Lazy Terrible Blogger who never posts.
The last post wasn't funny and I so wanted it to be. Also the sudden tingling and weakness in my wrists gave me quite a scare. Combined with the desperate need for some real vacation time away from work and Toronto overall, I just stopped blogging. Who cares anyway?
Now the miracles of modern medicine have slapped me back into the race. At night I have been wearing these lovely leather splints and the symptoms have almost completely disappeared. Once again I am ready to spread tedious pictures of dogs, overly complicated recipes and globs of minutiae across the globe!
